This is what happens in your cells when you are sick
Dear Diary,
Today was a challenging day because my human is sick. He has a fever and feels weak—something we cells can clearly sense as well. The energy we normally draw from food fluctuates greatly, and I realize that it’s not easy to fulfill my daily tasks under these difficult conditions.
Today, I had a particularly interesting conversation with my cell friend Immune-Izzy, the immune cell. She explained to me that the fever we all notice acts like an alarm for the body. It helps keep uninvited guests, like bacteria and viruses, at bay. A higher temperature makes the environment uncomfortable for these microbes, while at the same time, immune cells spring into action to provide support.
Izzy also told me that inflammation plays an important role in this defense reaction. When the body is activated, temperatures rise, and certain substances are released to summon more immune cells to the site of the action. This is all part of the natural defense mechanism aimed at combating invaders and assisting the body in its recovery.
During our conversation, I became aware of how crucial nutrient support is during these times. The right foods can strengthen our body and help it fight off illness. Especially when the body requires more assistance, nutrients like vitamins and minerals become essential. They can provide us with cellular energy and build up the defenses we urgently need to recover.
It’s reassuring to know that we cells are all working together to help our human regain his health, so he can soon reach his full potential again. Together, we are strong and can overcome challenges.
Stay cell-fresh,
Zellis
